The AST50 seal fits all ANSI pumps and many others when a single outside mechanical seal is required due to an extremely corrosive environment or low pressure service.
It's the ideal seal for non-metallic pumps, including Fybroc and Flowserve GRP. The AST50 has no metal parts in direct contact with pumping fluid and its multiple springs are isolated.
Because the proper spring compression is preset, the AST50 Mechanical Seal is easy-to-install. Just slide the rotary unit over the shaft until it contacts the stationary face. Next, tighten the drive ring and remove the retaining clips.
The AST50 Seal is designed for use when an outside seal is required as a low-cost replacement for seals made of exotic metals and those necessary in food service where the seal must be cleaned for sanitation purposes.
Because the AST50 Seal is internally balanced, no expensive sleeves, steps in the shaft, or modifications to the pump are required.
